These Must Have Cruelty Free Products Will Make You Say, "Beach, Please!"

If your summer vacation got delayed or straight up cancelled, have no fear! My friend Britt and I put together a list of our favorite items to make your living space a little slice of paradise. Whether you’re lounging around, doing mundane activities like cleaning or laundry, or out running a few errands, these products are sure to give you a beachy boost whenever and wherever you need it. And PS if you’re an outdoors hating person this time of year like myself, this list is for you, too 😉

Elf retro paradise glow up body oil

We all know I’m a sucker for cute packaging, so it’s no surprise that this ended up on the list. Finally, a nice beachy glow is attainable with a quick pass of this tropical scented body elixir. No stick, no transfer, no mess! Both shades complement a range of skin tones so no one has to know you’ve spent the last 4 months playing the Sims on your couch. Unless you want them to. You do you! This product is 100% vegan and cruelty free and can be purchased exclusively at Target or Elf’s website.

Love Beauty and Planet Algae & Eucalyptus Marine Hydration Body Lotion

I’m not really a big fan of lotion because it tends to be sticky, takes forever to dry, and I’m always worried about my dogs trying to lick it all off. But this product is a dream ☁️ The pump makes it easy to apply, it’s very hydrating but dries quickly, and the packaging is made from plastic that was diverted from the ocean. It’s 95% naturally derived and I am 100% obsessed with it. Also, it’s very fun to say “ocean lotion” so you really can’t go wrong.

Method Sea + Surf Body Wash

This is technically a men’s product, but hear me out — it smells incredible. I got it for Justin because I’m a big fan of Method products and am always trying to push a greener option on him, it just doesn’t always work out. When I ran out of my body wash, I found this in the shower and now it’s the only thing I use. The scent is intoxicating and makes me feel like I’m on a remote island and not in my poorly designed bathroom (I’ll get around to updating it eventually!). And Justin really likes it, too, so score!

Homesick Beach Cottage Candle

We got turned onto Homesick candles from a family member, and we looove them. The scents are fragrant but not too overpowering, and the the packaging is minimalist and cool. We don’t have this specific candle (the Dallas candle is our fave!), but if the ratings are any indication, this one is a winner. One review says, “For those of us who are land locked and miss the ocean, this is a breath of fresh air.” Add to cart! Homesick candles are non-toxic and contain no lead, plastics, parabens, sythentic dyes, or pthalates.

Bonus! Use this link for a 20% discount code on your next Homesick purchase!

Method Beach Sage Laundry Collection

No, this post isn’t sponsored by Method, but it should be! *HINT HINT* Method has an entire range of laundry products in a beach sage scent that’s friendly to you and the environment. The detergent is highly concentrated and biodegradable, and with the addition of the compostable dryer sheets, you can smell like you live on the beach in a way that will make people envious and not concerned for your mental health (think more luxury beach-front condo owner and less pop-up tent in the sand inhabitant). We haven’t used the other products in the range, but if you want to go all in on beach sage, there’s an accompanying fabric softener and fragrance booster. What’s that smell? It’s me. You’re welcome 🌊

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

This product is a cult favorite for a reason. Ingredients like guaraná, cupuaçu butter, açaí, and coconut oil work double duty to smoothe and hydrate skin as well as tighten and perk it up a bit. Fun fact: guaraná contains five times the caffeine of coffee, so it’s basically like a Red Bull for your skin! And with key notes of salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla, it smells good enough to eat but pls don’t lol. Use it on your arms, legs, bum bum, everywhere! Whether I’m beachbound, heading to the mountains, or just going home for the weekend, a travel size of this stays in my luggage. All Sol de Janeiro products are cruelty free and vegan (with the exception of their Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter) and you can find them at Sephora and on their website.

Method Lime + Sea Salt All Purpose Cleaner

Our house is more of a disaster than ever now that none of us seem to leave it anymore. If you can relate, bring the beach to you with this lightly scented cleaner. It’s safe to use on most surfaces and non-toxic (so no worries about your furry friends or little ones!). Also, as someone who’s a bit of a neat freak and once used a lot of toxic products in her home, I’m here to tell you that non-toxic products are just as effective as their not-as-green counterparts. If you’re looking to make the switch, you don’t have to dump everything you own. Just replace products with more natural options as you run out of them. And if you find a brand you love, stick with it (hence all the Method products!). Easy peasy!

Now, you’re all in for a real treat…

I have the tendency to workshop post ideas, and upon doing so with my friend Britt (who is basically a real life mermaid), she got so excited and rattled off a handful of her fave products to which I replied, “Congrats! You are now helping with this post!” 😂

Lush Sea Spray

Mist through your strands, give it a little scrunch, and you will magically become an actual mermaid with a sparkly tail and the *perfect messy beach hair* of your dreams.  In under 2 minutes, you can create soft cascading waves that smell like sea salt heaven without drying out your locks. Have you been playing in the surf all day and naturally look this amazing? Definitely. All Lush products are cruelty free and vegetarian, and Sea Spray is also vegan.

The Good Home Co. Beach Days Linen Spray

If a salty sweet ocean breeze could chase after you, wrap you up from head to toe and lift you to the heavens, that’s exactly what this linen spray feels like. It’s intoxicating. In the summer months, I give my usual perfumes a break and spritz this all over my clothes, bedding, towels, literally anything that needs to smell like the beach *WHICH IS EVERYTHING* except my cats and only because their vet would not recommend it. Speaking of cats, all products by The Good Home Co. are cruelty free, vegan, and paraben, sulfate, and pthalate free.

Thanks so much to Britt for contributing to this post! You can see more from her here. And thank you for reading! Did any of these beach-scented products catch your eye? Let us know in the comments!
