Spring 2020 Style Trends Hiding in Your Closet and How to Wear them RIGHT NOW

Hello, my loves! The sun is finally out in Nashville, and after working on my latest collab with Elizabeth AKA staygoldengirl, I’ve got spring seriously on the brain! If you’re ready to head into this next season but feel like the cooler temps are holding you back, we’ve got some helpful ways for you to bust out this spring’s hottest trends right now, polar vortex and all!

Crochet

NSS: Elizabeth, I can totally see you wearing this style!

SGG: There is something so nostalgic and timeless about crochet. You can definitely find some crocheted gems at the thrift store...I love the idea of pairing them with vintage denim and strappy heels!

NSS: And if you want the look to read less spring, you can always go for black or a darker-toned crochet!

Neon

NSS: YES. I love neon! I have neon clothes, workout clothes, coats…Collecting all of these images made me feel so happy. Color is such a great mood booster! I love the look of color-blocked neon for spring! Pair your neon item with a neutral color item to transition to spring in effortless style. And if this seems a little bold for you, dip your toe in the water by wearing a neon lip.

SGG: I used to be scared of neon, but now I say, "Bring it on!" Wearing these bold hues can bring so much life to your face and instantly makes you feel more confident (all eyes on you)!

Vests

NSS: I was a bit hesitant when this one was on the list (probably PTSD from the amount of vests I wore in middle school LOL), but I can totally see how this would work. I love the idea of wearing them with dresses. The vest top in that last pic is so unexpected and just cool, you know?

SGG: I recently thrifted a vest and quickly realized how important they are to have in your wardrobe! Vests are the perfect layering piece when playing around with menswear, but also incredibly chic when worn solo (a little skin, a lot of attitude).

Colored Leather

NSS: I feel like every time I go to the thrift store there are so many good leather options, so if you don’t have anything on hand — go there!

SGG: There is something so polished and cool about colored leather- especially in pastel hues. It's my dream to find a pale blue leather trench...manifesting this!

NSS: I’m manifesting that for you, too, because that sounds incredible! I love the pink monochromatic look. That skirt could be paired with a blouse, tights and heels for a little extra warmth.

Polka dots

SGG: Polka dots are a mainstay in most women's wardrobes, but now they are back with a vengeance. I love the idea of mixing different size polka dot prints throughout your look and even playing with color. A black-and-white polka dot dress or skirt will always be effortless in my book.

NSS: Back with a vengeance is right! There’s definitely a mood in all of these photos. Who knew polka dots could be so edgy?! And I love the idea of mixing the different prints.

Hot Pants

NSS: While not the most work appropriate, you can wear this trend now by popping on a pair of tights and pairing them with tall boots and a sweater. Hello, 70s!

SGG: Let's all take a cue from Taylor Swift and embrace some hot pants! In total transparency, this is a trend that scares me, but I love the idea of bringing it into my beach looks this summer. Retro vibes for days!

Bras and Blazers

NSS: I am absolutely obsessed with this look.

SGG: Katie Holmes basically broke the internet when she wore a cashmere bralette and now we are all sold. I want to flirt with this trend by playing around with sheer fabrics and layers. Stay tuned!

NSS: THAT IS EXACTLY THE LOOK I WAS THINKING OF. I think I know what to do with that sheer camouflage top I just picked up with you…If a bralette is too showy, try layering it under a sheer blouse or shirt and then tossing on a top layer (cardigan, blazer, jean jacket). Style for days!

Well, I officially feel inspired! Thank you so much to Elizabeth for teaming up with me for this post! Be sure to give her a follow on instagram, and if you’d like to see more, check out our September Thrift Style Challenge!
